House of Hope was founded in 1996 and houses 23 children in the moment. It is located in the middle of rice paddies about 20 km east of Chiang Mai in Doi Saket district.

The compound houses a two-story concrete building with the girls sleeping room, the library, the kitchen, a community space and offices. The boys sleep in two wooden houses. A diversity of building materials, namely concrete and wood, were used to show children the differences regarding building techniques, maintenance and the quality of living.

Every child has its own duty in order to learn how to care fire various things, develop life skills and to take on responsibility. Additionally it teaches them subjects like agriculture, livestock raising, cooking and house hold activities.

In the garden are growing fruit trees like guava, tamarind, coconut, jack fruit and many more. The children plant also vegetables according to the right season and raise chicken, pigs and fish for their own consumption. Of course are dogs and cats for a cuddle and stroke around as well.
